Somehow I have a link from a baseline and cannot delete the object

I have 2 modules SRC and TGT. In current version of the TGT module I have besides links coming in from the current SRC module, but also links from some old baseline of SRC (6.0).
I don't know how this happened but how do I delete those links?

The data was recently migrated from DOORS 7.1 to 9.2.

Thank you

The only time that I've seen this sort of thing is when a module is member of an active Baseline Set but it hasn't been rolled into that active Baseline set yet.

So in your case, both SRC and TGT are possibly members of an active Baseline Set that has not been fully closed yet. So my asumption is that the SRC module has been individually baselined which rolls it into the Baseline Set, but perhaps this has not yet happened to the TGT module. If I'm correct then when you're in the current version of the TGT module and you do a RH mouse click on an incoming link indicator that has links coming from SRC, you will see something like the attached screen grab - some of the displayed link info includes the version label of the SRC module where the links are coming from.

If this is your situation, then these version labels will not show up again in the curent version of the TGT module once it is rolled into the Baseline Set. You may need to check the properties of the Project Folder to see if there are any active but not closed Baseline Sets.

Yes, it is exacly what i heve.
The problem is that all the Baseline Sets that I find are closed.

Do you think creating a new BaselineSet with just these 2 mods would clear the situation?

I tried to create another baselineset with the SRC and TGT modules and close it - did not work
I also deleted the linkset from the link module and still have links from an older baseline of the TGT in the SRC modules.

Running out of options.

This is very odd and it's not out of the question that the upgrade from 7.1 to 9.2 is the culprit. A few questions for you:

Q1: When upgrading, did you upgrade to DOORS 8.x first or did you go straight to 9.2? (upgrading direct from 7.1 to 9.2 is not recommended)

Q2: If you did upgrade to 8.x first, which version of 8.x did you upgrade to?

Q3: Are you able to attach a screen grab(s) of what you see w.r.t this problem?

The server and data is actually managed by the IT team, who is not realy into DOORS.
So I am not sure how they did the upgrade.
I abandoned the module, copy paste the module and re-created the links using the kitchen scripts.

And I will keep the old one for the baselines. The old one only has links from a baseline of the source.

I'd just like to chime in that I've run into the same problem. Here's my situation:

I wrote a script to run a baseline set on some modules, as well as version outgoing links not included in the set. After the baseline set is closed, the script deletes the baseline set definition. After a using this script for a few months, we started seeing links from a baseline to current. You can't see them in the target baseline, nor in the Properties of the target current object. But you can see these baseline-to-current links in the arrow icons of the target objects. And you can't delete those target objects, since they have incoming links.

Our DOORS admin got a solution from IBM. If people would like, I can find out what it is and post.

Attached PDF is our solution. It involves editing the DOORS files directly, so this isn't for the faint of heart.

So how do we get our hands on the following items described in this doc.

1 "dbunz.exe" uncompression tool

2 "print uniqueID current Module.dxl" script (although it wouldn't be hard to knock up one of these yourself)
Warning - this doc doesn't say anywhere that you should stop the DOORS DB service and have a back-up of the DB to avoid disappointment, tears and pleading with your chosen divinity should it all go wrong.

We got "dbunz.exe" from IBM support. You may have to ask/plead/beg hard for it. They didn't believe we were having this issue to begin with. So we really had to push for this.

The script to print out the unique ID of a module is literally,

print uniqueID current Module

It's a good idea to stop the DB to make these edits, but it turns out you don't have to. If you don't stop it, you should put the module(s) in exclusive edit before making changes to the DB files.

I don't want to get into a protracted discussion (flame war) on whether this is a good idea or not. It is the only way we know of removing these links, period. If anyone has other solutions, we would welcome the enlightenment.

Before you go down this path make sure the DOORS Admin who can see all modules takes a look at the objects. Someone may of made a copy of the module or created links that the current user can't see because of priviledges on the module.

DOORS can see the link but the user may not be able to.
